Common questions

How does the Escape app block websites?

Escape blocks 11,868 known adult sites, plus any custom domains you add, across every browser on the phone, not just Safari. It stays on in private and incognito windows too.

Why isn't blocking working?

Make sure the Escape app's Safari extension is enabled in Settings → Safari → Extensions. If it still doesn't work, try restarting Safari. On iOS 18+ the path is Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions.

Does the Escape app track my data?

No personal data. The Escape app doesn't require an account, doesn't see your browsing history, and doesn't track you across apps. The only data transmitted is anonymous product-interaction signals via TelemetryDeck — a salted hash of your device ID, your iOS version, and your country. No IP address, no name, no content you create. Everything you journal, reflect on, or block stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Escape. Apple handles all billing — we never see your payment details.

How do I reset my streak?

Settings → Progress → "I Relapsed — Reset Streak." Your urge flow history and check-in data are preserved. The streak resets, the work doesn't.

How do I add a custom site to block?

On the Home tab, tap "+ Block a site" (premium feature). Type the domain — TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, anything that pulls you in. The block applies in Safari immediately.

What is the urge flow?

When the moment comes, tap "I'm feeling an urge" on the Home tab. The app walks you through a 4-step ritual: ground yourself, breathe through it, take an action (move, refocus, sensory reset, or quick relief), then reflect on what you were really feeling. Every urge you overcome gets logged. The count never goes down.

Will my partner or family find out I have the Escape app?

The Escape app is intentionally discreet. Its app icon is plain. There are no notifications mentioning what the Escape app blocks. Nothing about your usage is shared with anyone — no contacts, no shared apps, no leak. The Safari blocker simply shows a "page blocked" message when you try to visit a blocked site, with no branding telling anyone which app did it.

Can I use Escape on my Mac?

Yes. Escape blocks adult sites in Safari on your Mac for free, the same list as on iPhone, and one subscription covers all your devices through Apple's universal purchase, with your custom blocks synced over iCloud. For bypass-resistance on a computer, the app guides you to Apple's Screen Time filter, which resists Safari's reload-without-blockers option.
