About

Built by people who needed it.

We each tried to quit for years. We read the books. We joined the forums. We downloaded the apps that yelled at us, and the apps that ranked us on a leaderboard, and the apps that wanted to sell us a coach.

None of them met us at 11pm on a Tuesday.

So we built one that does.

"What if there were just an app that didn't say anything stupid?"

That was the whole brief. A blocker, because most days that's what's actually needed. A 90-second ritual for the moment willpower runs out. Twenty-five short courses for the slow arc back. Written plainly. Made for the inside of someone's head at the worst hour.

How it's made

A small team. We've each been the person Escape is for, and we're trying to fix this — for everyone, not just for one of us. No investor. No growth manager. Just people who needed this.

The blocker, the urge ritual, every first lesson, this whole website with all 196 lessons readable — free, forever. There's a premium tier in the app for people who want the daily companion and want the work to keep going. Pricing lives on the App Store, where it belongs.

We're intentionally anonymous. Not because of shame. Because this work isn't about us. It's about the inside of your head at 11pm on a Tuesday.

What this isn't

There is no account system. There never will be.

There is no leaderboard. The streak is your record, not a rating. Notifications stay quiet — capped at two a day, opt-in, never used to drag you back.

There are no ads. The iOS app sends no personal data. The website uses one privacy-friendly counter that doesn't know who you are.

The voice is plain. The kind of writing you'd want at midnight on a hard night. Nothing motivational-poster, nothing performative, nothing that asks you to perform masculinity at us.

If you want to say something

Write to hello@escapethegrip.com. We read every email. We usually take a few days.
